Policies & Procedures

Acceptance of Enrolment
Parents are asked to pay a 4 week bond on acceptance of enrolment (at full fee rate for the number of days your child will be attending the centre).  The bond is applied to your final fee account when your child finishes at the centre.

A fitted mattress protector is to be brought on your first day.

Fees
Fees are payable one month in advance.

Notice of Termination of Enrolment
We require 2 weeks notice in writing.  If 2 weeks is not received, the bond is forfeited.

Child Care Benefit & Child Care Rebate
CCB is means tested, CCR is not.  Your income may mean that your CCB percentage is zero, however, provided you meet the eligibility criteria for CCB you should be able to recieve the CCR claiming 50% of your out of pocket care costs.  The decision on eligibility for CCB and child care rebate rests with the Family Assistance Office (www.familyassist.gov.au).

This routine will be very flexible so that it allows for different age groups, special events / outings, weather and requests from the children.

Television
In the Lounge there is a television, video and DVD player.  The time spent watching TV is carefully monitored and only programs suitable for children will be shown.

Outings
All parents are required to complete the authorisation form to allow excursions.  Such excursions include going to the local playground and play groups at other family day care centres.

Delivery and Collection of Children
Children will only be released to the persons names listed on the Enrolment Form.   In the event of an emergency, should you not be able to collect your child, I will need to be notified verbally by someone whose name is on the Enrolment Form before I release your child.

Absence Due to Illness

If your child is absent due to illness, fees are still payable.

ImmunisationWe recommend that all children are fully immunised and the centre requires a full copy of children's immunisation records on commencement at the centre.

Animals

If you would like your child to attend extra days please contact Fleur regarding availability.

We own a  cat that is friendly and placid.  I will ensure that any contact with the cat is under my supervision.

Sick Policy
Sick children cannot be accepted at the centre.

In the case of an infectious disease - children will only be readmitted to the centre after a doctors certificate has been sighted.

Parents will be called straight away if a child in care becomes ill and cannot participate in daily activities.  Aunty Fleur's Day Care cannot care for a sick child, especially if the health of other children are at risk.

Parents must plan for back-up sick care for a child if they are unable to leave work.

Parents will be asked to pick up their child with the following conditions:
  • Fever: Auxiliary temperature of 100° F or 38° C or greater
  • Diarrhea: Five or more loose, watery stools within 24 hours
  • Vomiting
  • Sore throat or difficulty swallowing
  • Headache or stiff neck
  • Lice

  • Severe itching
  • Mouth sores
  • Eye discharge
  • Unusual nasal discharge
  • Significant tiredness, irritability, crying
  • Uncontrolled coughing
  • Difficulty breathing, wheezing
We are required to alert the correct authorities if your child is not collected.  We are required to call 000, if a child’s fever is at 40° C +. We are required to alert the correct authorities if a child is consistently brought into care with any of the listed conditions.

In cases of fever, diarrhea and/or vomiting, the child should not return to care until 24 hours have passed since the last sign of the symptoms.  Aunty Fleur’s Day Care may request that the family bring a note from the doctor stating the child is fit to return to Child Care after any of the conditions
In cases where the parents or guardians choose not to give antibiotics for any infections and or virus, the child must be kept at home.   A doctor’s certificate must be provided clearing the child of any infection and or virus before they can return to care.
Medication
Medication will only be supplied if the following procedure is followed:
  • All medication must be brought in a plastic snap lock container, along with your own medicine syringes
  • All medication must be labelled by a chemist with the child's name, address, expiry date.  This includes Panadol.
  • All parents must fill their own syringes and sign the medicines register.

Late Collection Fees
It is not acceptable that children are picked up late from the centre.

The centre is open from 8:00 – 5:30pm.  Should a child be dropped off early or picked up late an additional fee will be applied.  Parents will be asked to sign the Early/Late Collection Book and a fee account will be issued with your next invoice.

These fees are charged at a rate of $5 per five minutes with an additional flat late fee of $50 for children picked up after 5:45pm.

By developing this policy, we are asking families to respect that staff have commitments outside of work hours and parent’s lateness can affect these commitments.
